CRIME AND PUNISHMENT
May – June 2006
The Stanislavsky Theatre Studio approaches Dostoyevsky’s masterpiece from the perspective of popular (street) theatre with its healthy moral outlook and a good measure of rough and unsophisticated humor. By looking at the piece through the eyes of such an ensemble, Raskolnikov’s “dilemma” is presented just as it has been described by Dostoyevsky – as tragically ridiculous and laughable yet at the same time, dangerous. — RCDC
